Organic Skin Care Store, Inc. runs organicskincare.com as both an independent shop and an editorial resource. We want to be plain about how the site earns money, because that context helps you judge our recommendations.
We make money two ways. First, we sell professional organic skincare directly — brands we stock and ship ourselves, among them Eminence Organic Skin Care, Dr. Grandel, Phyris, Sothys, and ilike organic skin care. Second, some of the outbound links on this site are affiliate links. When you click one and buy from that retailer, we may earn a commission. Both of these are disclosed on this page, and both are true at the same time.
What an affiliate link is
An affiliate link is a tracked link to a third-party retailer. If you follow it and make a purchase, that retailer pays us a small commission. The price you pay is exactly the same as it would be if you reached the retailer any other way — there is no markup and no extra cost to you for using our link.
We participate in several affiliate networks, and we may add others over time. Current programs include:
- Amazon Associates
- CJ Affiliate
- Impact
- Skimlinks
As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
Where affiliate links appear
Affiliate links can show up in several places on the site and in our email. You will find them in:
- Buying guides (for example, our mineral-sunscreen and barrier-repair-moisturizer roundups for sensitive skin)
- Product comparisons
- “Affiliate Picks” listings, which are labeled as such
- Routine and product recommendations within articles
- Emails and newsletters we send
Not every link is an affiliate link. Links to our own stocked products, links to reference pages, and links to sources we cite are not affiliate links.
How we mark affiliate links
Affiliate links carry the rel="nofollow sponsored" attribute, which is the standard, machine-readable way to identify a paid or commissioned link. Where a whole listing is made up of affiliate picks, we label the section in plain language as well, so you do not have to inspect the link to know.
Our own products come first — honestly
When a product from our own catalog genuinely fits what an article is about, we recommend it first. We do that for a straightforward reason: we stock those brands, we handle them every day, and we stand behind them directly. We know them better than anything we could link to elsewhere.
Affiliate picks fill the gaps our own shelves do not cover. There are categories we do not stock — mineral SPF and bakuchiol serums are two examples — and rather than leave a guide incomplete, we point to vetted third-party options through affiliate links. So yes: we earn a full margin on our own products and we earn a commission on some third-party links. You should know both, and now you do.
Commissions do not change what we recommend
Whether or not a link earns us a commission does not decide whether a product gets recommended, and it does not change where a product ranks in a guide. We do not accept payment for placement, and a higher commission does not buy a better position. How we actually choose and rank products is described on our editorial methodology page.
Prices are always checked live at the retailer
We do not quote or cache prices for products sold on partner retailers, because those prices change. For anything you reach through an affiliate link, check the current price on the merchant’s own page before you buy.
